My Driving Resumé & Experience

My name is Sonny Watanasirisuk.  I currently drive for Team 949 Racing, a successful endurance racing team in the NASA Western Endurance Racing Championship (WERC) series, and the E2 class winner (8th overall of 83 teams) of the 2011 25 Hours of Thunderhill.

Driving takes me places.  For now, it’s to work, hangouts and, of course, the racetrack.  But I hope that one day, my driving will help me fulfill my dream of being a professional racing driver.

My background and notable results:

  • Miata Challenge Time Trial Series (2009)
    • Unlimited Class: tied for 1st in season points, winning 1 round of the series
  • Speed Ventures open track day (HPDE) driving instructor (2009-current)
  • SCCA Solo2 competitor (2006-2008)

  1. I remember you…you’re the guy that bought my 99 miata passenger side door. You came to my house and picked it up. You’re the guy that went to UC Berkeley right? Good luck with the racing career. Hopefully that will work out…if not then you always have your engineering degree/career to fall back on.

  2. Oh I forgot to mention….I’m one of the few Miata guys who’s sporting the FD. RX-7 front lip….and yes I trimmed it in the middle. It’s by far the best looking lip I have seen for the Miata and blends in very well with the car’s overall curve and design. Pic….
